Employer Spotlight: Bud Weisbart, AR Tech – A Lifelong Champion of Internships
At the heart of Fontana’s industrial innovation stands Bud Weisbart, Vice President and Co-owner of AR Tech, a company that has embraced the value of internships since 1982. With over four decades of dedication to experiential learning, Bud remains a passionate advocate for giving young people meaningful, hands-on work experience.
“If you do it right, you bring interns into your organization with real functional responsibilities. This benefits the company, the intern, and the community.”
— Bud Weisbart
Bud’s philosophy is simple yet powerful: when interns are treated as contributors—not just observers—they gain skills and confidence, companies gain fresh energy and insight, and the broader community thrives.
As the Career Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Chair for Fontana Unified School District, Bud goes beyond his business to make a larger impact. He plays a key role in strengthening work-based learning opportunities across the region. His commitment ensures students are not only academically prepared, but also career-ready.
This year, AR Tech participated as a Pathfinder Day site, opening its doors to local high school students. Attendees got a firsthand look at advanced fabric manufacturing, witnessing innovation in action. They even saw fabric that will be orbiting in space on a rocket since AR Tech provides the fabric products for the aerospace industry, right in their hometown.
